The Folder Scan

The scan happens in your browser. File names, paths, contents, sizes and dates are read there and never sent to us. The duplicate check by content also runs in your browser.

What is stored when you save

A Space Logbook stores what you save into it: drive names and sizes, readings (date, free space, an optional note) and, for a saved scan, its totals: the folder's name, file count and size per kind of file, and the top-level folders' sizes with their names only if you keep them. Never a file name. The page shows you exactly what will be sent before you press Save.

What else

No account and no email. One cookie holds this browser's logbook key, one holds a security token for forms. No analytics, no ads, no trackers, no third-party scripts or fonts. To limit abuse, a salted, one-way fingerprint of your network address is counted per day and deleted after two days. Like every website, the server keeps standard access logs (address, page, time), which the host rotates.

Deleting

"Delete this logbook" removes it and everything in it at once. Database backups (one a night, the newest 14 kept, plus a copy at each site update, the newest 10 kept) age out on their own.
